Job Duties:
Management and Administrative Duties
  • To align with the mission, vision and strategic direction of the organization, and work with senior management as a team to accomplish the strategic goals;
  • To lead, communicate and facilitate the department respective team staff's understanding and contribution to the mission, vision and strategic direction of the organization;
  • To lead, develop and coordinate the occupational therapy department in various centres and projects to ensure smooth operation and facilitate service development;
  • To assist and contribute in the bidding and setting up of new centres / departments / projects, and formulation of development plan for new projects;
  • To work with the Regional Managers / Service Managers / General Managers / Project Managers and Therapist Supervisors to review and enhance service delivery, so as to meet the needs of service requirement as well as the therapeutic needs of children and their families;
  • To work with Department Heads and Regional Managers / Service Managers / General Managers / Project Managers to handle staff and administrative matters, such as deployment, procurement, leave arrangement and discipline;
  • To participate in projects / working groups / management meetings to facilitate cross-service functions and management functions of the Society as a whole;
  • To attend external meetings and connect with professional staff of universities, hospitals, special schools or other institutions for networking, staff recruitment and continuous service development;
  • To write annual appraisals for staff under his / her supervision and prepare performance improvement plan whenever necessary;
  • To plan, recruit and develop new staff;
  • To allocate responsibilities, projects and monitor workload of OTs and attain a balanced and appropriate workload assignment for sustainable development;
  • To advise on the design, procurement and installation of furniture, equipment and facilities in centres to enhance the competitiveness.
Research and Development Duties
  • To lead the team in pursuing service excellence through innovation and evidence-based practice;
  • To introduce, adopt and develop new training models and approaches in meeting the diversified needs of service users and their families;
  • To strengthen research and development through tools development, publication, research initiative and practice consolidation.
Clinical Duties
  • To advise OTs on assessment and treatment of difficult cases;
  • To participate in case conferences of difficult cases and provide consultation to centre therapists/staff as necessary;
  • To keep abreast of new techniques and to develop, introduce and improve procedures and practices;
  • To promote knowledge management and streamline work process;
  • To organize, coordinate and conduct seminars, talks, educational workshops for teachers, parents and public to share professional knowledge and promote the branding.
Supervisory Duties
  • To supervise all OTs of OT department under coordination for quality assurance;
  • To monitor, guide and evaluate the work of individual therapists employed in different centres by conducting supervisory visits to their centres;
  • To coordinate the work of all OTs and implement service development plan by holding regular meetings, drafting working/treatment guidelines, designing documentation systems etc.;
  • To give advice and assistance in curriculum planning and development at either centre or agency level.
Training Duties
  • To plan, organize and run in-service training for OTs and artisans/assistants (if any) to strengthen their clinical knowledge and skills;
  • To plan, organize and run in-service training for other staff in the Society; assess the experience and on-the-job training requirements of individual therapists; 
  • To participate in clinical liaison meetings and organize clinical attachment/ placement of OT students from universities/ colleges. To coach clinical educators selected from the OT team and monitor the standard of clinical education provided in centres according to the requirements set by the universities/ colleges;
  • To give talks on the role of occupational therapy to medical students, paramedical groups etc., visiting the centres;
  • To arrange and encourage sharing of practice and experience among team members so as to motivate them to apply updated knowledge and skills in their clinical practice.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant disciplines, preferably with Master degree and post-graduate training in discipline-related courses;
  • At least 15 years' of relevant experience in which 5 years at supervisory level;
  • Membership of professional bodies and registration as required;
  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively and efficiently evaluate information and make appropriate decision for service development and expansion;
  • Strong leadership skills with commitment on talent development and service innovation;
  • Display effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with team members at both centre and management levels;
  • Strive for continual improvement and enhancement on both clinical and management aspects;
  • Excellent spoken and written Chinese and English;
  • Proficient in PC Operations.
